Permeability Cups
Specialized Cups for Determination of Water Vapor Transmission Rate of Paints and Varnishes
The Permeability Cups is used to determine the water vapor transmission rate (WVTR) of paints, varnishes, coatings, coating systems, and related products. The permeability cup consists of a container, a seal ring, and a cover ring. The seal ring is designed to prevent rotation when the lid is closed.
The permeability cup is suitable for testing both self-supporting coatings and non-self-supporting coatings. Water vapor transmission rate is related to high-humidity environments. Although the wet cup method is the reference method for determining WVTR, other procedures or dry cup method conditions may also be used if specified.
Each TQC Sheen permeability tester is carefully designed for precise and reliable measurements. The device consists of the following components:
- Cup – Holds the test sample and the liquid or gas used for permeability evaluation.
- Seal Ring – Prevents movement of the sample and ensures a secure, airtight seal.
- Cover Ring – Secures the sample in place for accurate measurement.
The non-rotational seal ring design ensures stability by preventing unwanted movement during testing, resulting in consistent and repeatable results.
Manufactured in the Netherlands.
Standards
The TQC Sheen range of permeability testers is designed to meet international testing standards such as ASTM E96, ISO 7783, and ASTM D1653. This ensures compatibility with water vapor transmission rate measurement methods and provides reliable results.
