WorléeSol 65 A

Short oil, water-thinnable alkyd resin for the production of corrosion protection primers and top coats with early water resistance for agricultural machinery paints, for example

Application and Properties
WorléeSol 65 A is a short oil alkyd resin for the manufacture of water thinnable, air drying and forced dried primers and top coats. As neutralization agents could be used ammonia, triethyl amine, DMAMP 80, AMP 90 (Angus) or others.

wt. amine = (mol wt. amine) x (acid value resin solids) x (wt. resin solids) / 56,100 = 100% neutralization

Primers based on WorléeSol 65 A have a very good corrosion resistance, if they are pigmented with e.g. zinc phosphate PZ 20 / Alcophor 827 (Henkel). Top coats for e.g. agricultural machineries with fast drying, high gloss, perfect flow and early water spot resistance can be manufactured from WorléeSol 65 A without any problems. At a perfect formulating, also good recoatability is possible.

WorléeSol 65 A can also be used for water thinnable stoving systems. The application of WorléeSol 65 A based paints can be done by conventional systems, e.g. spraying, dipping, flow coating, etc., but the viscosity at normal pressure spray should be 40 – 60 s DIN 53211, 4 mm cup.

For a good paint stability the water / cosolvent ratio should be 80:20 or 85:15.

The pH value should be adjusted after paint manufacturing to 8.2 – 8.5, which guarantees the best properties.

The driers should be dispersed in the mill base.

For W´Sol 65 A based primers and top coats we recommend the following driers:

0.05 – 0.15% Co + 0.05 – 0.15% Mn for primers and coloured top coats
0.05% Co + 0.1% Ca + 0.1 – 0.6% Zr for white pigmented systems
(metal calculated on solid binder).

The addition of Pb- and Zn-driers should be avoided. Our starting point formulations show which pigments, flatting agents and additives are
approved.
