Bresle Test Kit – Surface Salt Test

The Bresle Test Kit is ideal for companies operating in the fields of marine coatings, protective coatings, and pipeline coatings. It helps detect the presence of soluble salts, expressed in milligrams per square meter, ensuring proper surface preparation before coating application.

TQC-Sheen Bresle Kit – Surface Salt Test Kit determines the level of soluble salts present on surfaces prepared for painting, using the Bresle method as described in TS EN ISO 8502-6 and TS EN ISO 8502-9 standards. This method involves the use of a Bresle patch, distilled water, and a conductivity meter. The conductivity of a solution is largely proportional to the concentration of dissolved chloride ions in the solution.

The test kit includes all equipment necessary to perform the Bresle test, which indicates contamination from soluble salts on a blast-cleaned surface just prior to coating application. The conductivity meter included in the kit detects the presence of chloride, sulfate, and nitrate ions in solution, indicating surface contamination.

Abrasive Contamination
The TQC-Sheen Bresle Kit is also suitable for determining the contamination level of blasting abrasives, an important test described in TS EN ISO 11127-6 and TS EN ISO 11127-7. It helps prevent recontamination of cleaned surfaces by soluble salts present in recycled abrasives or cleaning water.
