Applications and Properties

WorléeSol E 150 W is a medium-oil PU alkyd emulsion developed for the formulation of fast air-drying and forced-drying, water-thinnable coating systems.

It enables the formulation of topcoats with high gloss, excellent hardness and very good water resistance. Its good exterior durability makes it suitable for both interior and exterior applications. Coatings based on WorléeSol E 150 W retain a high level of gloss after storage.

Its main applications include air-drying decorative and architectural coatings, hobby and DIY paints, and protective wood stains.

WorléeSol E 150 W offers good compatibility with many water-thinnable alkyd resins and acrylic dispersions. Nevertheless, thorough compatibility testing with the intended raw materials and formulation is recommended.

Drier Recommendation

The recommended cobalt (Co) dosage is 0–0.1%, calculated as metal on solid binder.

WorléeSol E 150 W is a versatile binder suitable for coating systems across a wide range of applications. It offers a water-based alternative to conventional solvent-based alkyd paints. It provides high gloss and good exterior durability in wood coatings and can also be used in primers and topcoats for metal surfaces. Additionally, it is suitable for formulating stain-blocking wall coatings that help prevent stains such as nicotine from bleeding through.

WorléeSol E 150 W can be used to formulate a broad range of coatings, from high-performance wood preservatives and stain-blocking primers that reduce resin and knot bleed-through to air-drying anticorrosive primers and high-gloss topcoats capable of achieving gloss levels of up to 90 GU. With the appropriate formulation, WorléeSol E 150 W can deliver strong performance characteristics, including more than 240 hours of salt spray resistance, making it a versatile binder for a wide variety of coating systems.

WorléeSol E 150 W is an oxidatively drying binder that can be formulated without driers. A small amount of drier may be used to accelerate early hardness development, and it is compatible with cobalt-free driers such as WorléeAdd 2700. It is also suitable for forced-drying industrial systems at 60–70 °C and for alkyd-melamine stoving primers and topcoats.

WorléeSol E 150 W is a water-based, medium-oil, urethane-modified alkyd emulsion. It offers application, flow and drying properties similar to those of conventional solvent-based alkyd paints. It helps minimise brush and roller marks while providing rapid hardness development and early water resistance.

Its long open time provides an extended working window for correcting and smoothing the coating during application. It is also suitable for formulating spray-applied anticorrosive primers and high-gloss industrial coatings, as well as dip-applied direct-to-metal (DTM) coatings.

WorléeSol E 150 W inherently offers high gloss and good resistance to yellowing. It can also be used to formulate matt, satin and high-gloss varnishes and topcoats.
