ConstaCon® SC – Condensation Moisture Test Chamber

Cabinet-Type Humidity Resistance Test Chamber

Liebisch ConstaCon® M-SC Test Chambers have been developed specifically for condensation humidity tests in accordance with standards such as DIN 50017 and TS EN ISO 6270-2. Except for its transparent lid, the cabinet-type device is made entirely of glass-fiber-reinforced plastic. There are no metal parts, heating units, or other elements inside the test chamber that could be affected by corrosion, making the device extremely durable for long-term corrosion testing.

ConstaCon® M-SC test chambers are available in three volume options: 400, 1000, and 2000 liters, depending on the size and quantity of the test samples. The devices are front-loading, which makes them ideal for test samples of various shapes and sizes. Front loading provides easy access to all areas of the chamber and allows for observation during the test. Optionally, test chamber lighting can be added for clearer visibility. While lids open sideways in 400 and 1000-liter models, the 2000-liter model features a gas-spring-assisted top-opening lid, allowing easy placement of long samples.

The specially designed large heating cells of ConstaCon® M-SC are located in the side walls, are fully thermally insulated, and provide highly homogeneous temperature distribution and excellent energy efficiency. These heating cells are completely isolated from the corrosive test atmosphere, ensuring the device can operate trouble-free for many years without requiring service.

ConstaCon® SC models have two separate outlets for air exhaust and drainage, keeping salt mist optimally contained within the chamber and preventing corrosion of other laboratory equipment. A removable strainer in the drain prevents clogging from corrosion residues, providing a safe and reliable testing environment.

ConstaCon® K – M-SC is specially designed for continuous 24/7 test cycles like DIN 50 017 KK and TS EN ISO 6270-2 – CH. In many customer applications, the device operates continuously for years, with samples checked daily and replaced as needed. The manually controlled ConstaCon® K – M-SC can optionally be equipped with a cycle timer for alternative temperature cycles such as DIN 50 017 – KTW and TS EN ISO 6270-2 – AT.

Although it is possible to perform DIN 50 017 – KFW and TS EN ISO 6270-2 – AHT cycles by opening the chamber lid after 8 hours to equalize the air, the ConstaCon® KB M-SC model, equipped with a ventilation system, is a more suitable choice for this task. In the ConstaCon® KB – M-SC model, ambient air is automatically passed through the chamber at the end of the programmed cycle, completing the cycle without the need for operator intervention. The ConstaCon® M-SC has a constant water level control system and automatically draws water from a pressurized demineralized water line.

The ConstaCon® M-SC is extremely easy to use. The test chamber temperature is set according to the relevant test standard. In KB models, heating and ventilation times can be scheduled weekly. Once the ON button is pressed, the device automatically fills the chamber base with water to a certain level and begins heating. If the water level is insufficient, heating will not commence. Since heating is only performed under correct conditions, when the device is equipped with the optional data recording system, test reliability can be documented.

Temperature settings for the test chamber in the ConstaCon® M-SC are controlled by the Liebisch Temperature Controller. The temperature sensor is portable and should be placed at the center of the chamber. For larger samples, the sensor position can be adjusted. Thanks to the precisely calculated PID control parameters for each chamber size, the temperature fluctuation in the test chamber is less than ±1°C. Although standard in the KB model, the K model can optionally be equipped with a timer to stop the test after a preset duration.

The ConstaCon® M-SC is designed to operate for many years without requiring maintenance. However, due to potential lime or algae formation from demineralized water or leakage caused by irregular cleaning of the chamber, periodic maintenance is recommended. The maintenance interval is yearly but can be extended depending on favorable environmental conditions and regular operator care. Maintenance is performed by Kar Kimya’s local service team in Turkey.
