Falling Sand Abrasion Tester — widely used to measure the abrasion resistance of paints, varnishes, and other organic coatings.
The device features a design defined by ASTM D 968 and other internationally recognized test standards, consisting of an 8″ diameter sand reservoir with a 60° conical funnel. Standardized abrasive particles placed in the reservoir are released through a guide tube. The guide tube is a 36″ long, smooth, straight tube. Samples are fixed beneath the tube at a 45° angle to the tube’s mouth to collect the falling particles. A sturdy base and support system keep the device upright.
