WorléeKyd SD 7003

Properties and Applications
WorléeKyd SD 7003 is a long oil alkyd resin. It is used in high quality undercoats and base coats, and in silk- and high gloss decorative paints. It is also suitable as combination partner in wood glazings. Systems on basis WorléeKyd SD 7003 show fast drying and through drying, high initial hardness and good sandability. These systems show also a good outdoor- and yellowing resistance.

In silk gloss systems WorléeKyd SD 7003 shows in combination with thixotropic alkyd resins, as e. g. WorléeThix 670 hs, a good mattability and good processing- and levelling properties. For further optimization of the matting (faster gloss) is the WorléeAdd 429 suitable.

Solubility
WorléeKyd SD 7003 is well soluble in aromatic and aliphatic hydrocarbons and in dearomatized white spirits and isoparaffines.

Siccative Recommendation
For the drying of WorléeKyd SD 7003 following standard values are proposed:

cobalt containing
approx. 0.06% Co
approx. 0.1 – 0.15% Ca
approx. 0.1 – 0.15% Zr
(metal counted on solid alkyd resin)

cobalt free
a) approx. 1.50 – 2.00% WorléeAdd VP 2500
b) approx. 1% Nuodex Drycoat (Rockwood)
c) approx. 0.50% Mordry 420 (BRCS)

each counted on solid binder. In addition the use of secondary driers or special additives is recommended.
approx. 0.15% Ca
approx. 0.15% Zr
(each metal on solid binder)

and approx. 1% WorléeAdd VP 2600 / VP 2610 for the improvement of the drying and especially the through drying, as well as for curing and drying stability. This addition is especially recommended for the cobalt-free drying b) and c).
