At its facilities in Lauenburg and Lübeck in northern Germany, Worlée-Chemie GmbH manufactures binders and additives for the paints and coatings industry using modern production technologies. Its extensive product portfolio includes water- and solvent-based acrylic and alkyd resins, polyesters, polyester and polyether polyols, epoxy esters, and a wide range of additives for various applications. For more than 170 years, Worlée has reliably supplied its international customers with raw materials sourced from around the world. The company was founded in Hamburg in 1851 by Emil Heinrich Worlée, initially focusing on the import and trade of natural resins used as binders in the production of paints and varnishes.

Over time, Worlée evolved from a traditional trading company into a modern international manufacturing and service group. Today, it operates across three main business divisions: chemical, natural and cosmetic raw materials. In addition to manufacturing and distributing raw materials for the paints, coatings and cosmetics industries, the Group processes and supplies natural products such as spices, dried fruits and vegetables, herbs and tea ingredients for the food, beverage and animal nutrition sectors.

Worlée-Chemie GmbH, headquartered in Lauenburg, became the first chemical company to be admitted to the Klimaschutz-Unternehmen network in 2010. By adopting voluntary, measurable and ambitious targets for climate protection and energy efficiency, Worlée contributes to reducing CO₂ emissions and improving resource efficiency through its production processes, products and services.

Klimaschutz-Unternehmen – the Climate Protection and Energy Efficiency Group of German Business – is an excellence initiative that brings together companies developing exemplary climate protection practices. The initiative was launched in 2009 by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs, the Federal Ministry for the Environment and the German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DIHK). In 2013, it became an independent non-profit association under the name Klimaschutz-Unternehmen e. V.
