Combination resin for other alkyd resins, improves penetration, reduces viscosity, reduces VOC, solo for wood care and coating products, ideal paste binder

Applications and Properties
WorléeKyd RS 2174 is an air drying alkyd resin which is especially suitable for the use as combination- or sole binder in low VOC coatings. Due to the very good compatibility with short-, medium- and long-oil alkyd resins it is suitable for the improvement of the processing – and levelling properties of paints on this basis. This very good compatibility with at the same time good pigment wetting enables the WorléeKyd RS 2174 being an ideal paste binder. Due to the extremely low viscosity low VOC and VOC-free pigment pastes can be formulated.

Another field of application is the application as sole- or combination-binder in low VOC or VOC-free wood glazings and especially in maintenance oils. Through the possible increase of the non volatile content with at the same time a viscosity decrease a system with very good penetration and excellent processing- and levelling properties is obtained.

Further application fields are VOC reduced dilutions and as correction resin in paint productions.

Handling and Storage
Can form haze or sediment when stored.

Dilutability
WorléeKyd RS 2174 is dilutable in all common solvents.

Compatibility
WorléeKyd RS 2174 is compatible with most short-, medium- and long-oil air-drying alkyd resins.
There is also a compatibility with special acrylic resins, such as WorléeCryl L 2380 or WorléeCryl L 2822.

Following driers are recommended for WorléeKyd RS 2174:

Here the driers depend essentially on the basic resin.

Cobalt-containing:

  • approx. 0.06% Co
  • approx. 0.15% Ca
  • approx. 0.15% Zr
    (metal on solid binder)

Cobalt-free:

  • approx. 1% BorchersDry 411hs
  • approx. 1% Nuodex Drycoat
    (each counted on solid binder)

In addition the use of secondary driers respectively special additives is recommended:
