Film Thickness Gauge – FTG2000

Measuring film thickness and assessing surface smoothness are critical for quality control in ink, paint, and coating applications. These measurements provide valuable insights into adhesion performance, help maintain surface quality, and optimize material costs by improving application efficiency. They can also be used for testing film layers in flexible packaging applications.

The FTG2000 is a precision film and foil thickness gauge, specifically developed for measuring Testex® replica tapes used in surface profile analysis. The device offers high-precision measurements in the 0 to 1000 micron range, with a resolution of 1 micron and an accuracy of ±5 microns.

Thanks to its large and clear display, the instrument is easy to read under all conditions. Measurement values can be displayed in either microns or inches. The ergonomic handle ensures ease of use while minimizing the influence of the operator’s hand temperature on measurement accuracy.

The TQC film thickness gauge operates fully in accordance with ISO 8503-5 for the preparation of steel substrates prior to the application of paints and related products. It also allows measurements in compliance with ASTM D4417-21, the standard test method for field measurement of surface profile of blast-cleaned steel.

As specified in the standard, the closing force is 1.5 N. The instrument has an accuracy of 5 microns and a resolution of 1 micron. The FTG2000 is supplied with a storage case.
