Shore Hardness Gauge – Shore A / Shore D Durometer

This highly accurate shore durometer hardness tester is ideal for coating laboratories and paint production. It’s exactly what you need for testing materials including polyester, ABS, nylon, polyurethane, kevlar, acryl, wood and polystyrene.

Shore durometers measure the depth of an indentation in the material created by a given force on a standardized presser foot. The depth is dependent on the hardness of the material, its viscoelastic properties, the shape of the presser foot and the duration of the test.

Shore durometers are a reliably robust device that will measure the impression hardness of soft materials such as coatings, plastics and rubber, without shock. Shore durometer comes equipped with a drag indicator, which holds the highest measured result and a simple test block.

The instrument complies with DIN 53505, ISO 868, and ASTM D2240 standards.

Shore A and Shore D scales are used for different types of materials. Shore A is suitable for soft materials such as rubber, silicone, and elastomers. Shore D is preferred for measuring harder plastics and thermoplastic materials.

The smaller the deformation measured during the test, the higher the hardness of the material. Measurements range from 0 (softest) to 100 (hardest). For example, 30 Shore A is very soft, whereas 80 Shore A is harder.
