WorléeKyd C 640
WorléeKyd C 640 is a short-oil non-drying alkyd based on saturated fatty acids. It is intended particularly for use with nitrocellulose for the manufacture of high quality modified nitrocellulose finishes

Compatibility
WorléeKyd C 640 is compatible with the majority of short and medium oil length drying and non-drying alkyds. The compatibility with unplasticized urea and melamine resins must be checked in each case. Its compatibility with maleic resins, ketone resins, nitrocellulose and the usual plasticizers is good.
Solubility
WorléeKyd C 640 is soluble in aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons, esters, ketones and higher alcohols. It has limited solubility in lower alcohols and glycol ethers.
Application and Properties
WorléeKyd C 640 is particularly suitable for the manufacture of high quality nitrocellulose finishes for wood and paper. The solvent release is very fast. Due to the type of fatty acid it is possible to manufacture versatile non-yellowing nitrocellulose lacquers which may be recoated by spray of curtain coating technique.
Sanding sealers based on WorléeKyd C 640 and nitrocellulose in the ratio 2 : 1 (calculated on resin solids) have exceptionally short drying times and sand very well.
Due to its very good resistance to yellowing, WorléeKyd C 640 is suitable for the production of lacquers for pale coloured wood and for paper.
Its good pigment wetting properties and the absence of components drying by oxidation makes it possible to use WorléeKyd C 640 as a binder for pigment pastes.
In conjunction with nitrocellulose, plasticizers, unplasticized urea formaldehyde resins and special catalyst, WorléeKyd C 640 is also suitable for the manufacture of one and two component acid catalysed finishes.
