Alkyd resins, solvent-based, thixotropic
The thixotropic alkyd resins have a significant influence on the processing properties of the coating systems. Due to the different oil lengths, different fatty acids and the modification with urea or polyamide, there is a wide range to choose from. Thixotropy is formed via hydrogen bonds between the NH atoms. In the case of urea-modified resins, the addition of small quantities of polar solvents can have an additional positive influence on the thixotropy effect.
