Testex Replica Tape – Press O-Film

The Testex Surface Profile Test Tape (Replica Tape – Press-O-Film) is a professional surface profile measurement solution developed for the precise measurement of profile depth and roughness level on blasted steel surfaces. It is widely used to verify surface preparation before paint and coating applications.

The Testex replica tape measures the surface profile by physically replicating it. The tape is applied to the blasted surface, the profile is transferred onto the tape, and the surface roughness is then measured using a micrometer.

The Testex Replica Tape system consists of a compressible foam layer and a polyester carrier film. When pressed onto the blasted surface, the surface profile is imprinted into the foam layer.

The measurement process is performed in the following steps:

• The tape is applied to the surface
• The profile is transferred onto the tape by rubbing
• The tape is measured with a micrometer
• The 50 µm polyester base thickness is subtracted to calculate the actual surface profile

This method allows reliable determination of the peak-to-valley height.
