Cone and Plate Viscometer
The Cone and Plate Viscometer is a standard test instrument for dynamic viscosity measurements. Since non-Newtonian fluids exhibit different viscosities depending on the applied shear rate, the Cone and Plate Viscometer controls the shear rate up to 10,000 s⁻¹ (as required by British Standards) or 12,000 s⁻¹ (as required by ASTM standards).
Cone and Plate Viscometer (CP1) is a standard test instrument used for dynamic viscosity measurements. With its new high-precision microprocessor controllers, it offers faster and more accurate results. Since non-Newtonian fluids exhibit different viscosities depending on the applied shear rate, the Cone and Plate Viscometer controls shear rate according to 10,000 s⁻¹ (B.S. requirements) or 12,000 s⁻¹ (ASTM requirements). These standards are commonly considered to represent paint application via roller or brush and are used to simulate “real-world” conditions.
As most viscosity measurements are highly sensitive to heat, samples are placed on a temperature-controlled plate adjustable between 5°C and 65°C.
Cone kits are not included with the Cone and Plate base unit and must be ordered separately.
