The group’s solutions are used for quality control, research and development, and product validation in industries including paints and coatings manufacturing, automotive, infrastructure, marine, metal packaging and general manufacturing.
The Founding and Development of TQC
TQC’s history dates back to 1977, when it was founded by F. Moonen under the name Thermimport Quality Control. Initially supplying measurement instruments and testing methods for industrial thermal processes, the company gradually shifted its focus towards the testing and inspection of surface treatments and protective coatings.
TQC established a strong position in the industry through its user-focused design, innovative approach and technologies that make paint testing processes more controlled and repeatable.
The Merger of TQC and Sheen Instruments
TQC acquired UK-based Sheen Instruments in October 2017. With a history dating back to 1947, Sheen Instruments is a well-established manufacturer with decades of experience in laboratory testing instruments for the paints and coatings industry.
TQC’s innovative engineering approach and Sheen Instruments’ expertise in measurement technologies were brought together under the TQC Sheen brand in 2018. Today, the combined brand operates within Industrial Physics, offering comprehensive testing solutions for paints, coatings and surface analysis.
The Integration of Simex Products into TQC
German company Simex GmbH, also well known in Türkiye for its laboratory paint testing instruments—including film applicators, grind gauges and pycnometers—was acquired by TQC in 2003. This development significantly expanded TQC’s product portfolio of physical paint testing instruments.
Testing in Accordance with International Standards
TQC Sheen instruments are designed to help meet the requirements of ISO, ASTM, DIN, NEN and other international test methods. They therefore support controlled, comparable and repeatable measurements in quality-control and research-and-development laboratories.
As applicable standards vary according to the product and model, the technical specifications of the relevant instrument should be reviewed separately for the intended test method.
